Fibromyalgia: All the Stats and Facts you Need to know!

Earlier this year, I visited a friend, who is a banker, who lost his girlfriend.

When I pressed to know what really happened, he told me his banker girlfriend usually complained about severe body pain, and that she had gone to the hospital for check-up, all to no avail.

one faithful day, while she was at her place of work, she suddenly began to complain bitterly about the same pain, and before she was rushed to the hospital, she gave up the ghost. Needless to say that this degenerative ululating damage is how far the condition called fibromyalgia could go.

what is fibromyalgia

If you have never heard about this condition, I Know you are at the edge of your seat, wondering, what exactly is Fibromyalgia?
This condition does call for some concern, because it is said to be one of the most degenerating illness that affects the bones and muscles. A person can be said to have fibromyalgia, if they have widespread pain and tenderness in trigger points like the back of the head, at top of the shoulder, upper chest, hips, knee or outer elbows. Usually, when a patient complains of consistent dull ache affecting many areas of the body, for at least a period of three months, the doctor would run a test on the patient to see if they had this condition by pressing firmly on the trigger points or tender points to see if there is pain.

Fibromyalgia, is usually characterized by widespread muscle, joint pain and chronic fatigue. It is presumed by doctors to be incurable. However, in my opinion, through quality complementary therapies, this condition could be cured.

So, what exactly are the causes of this debilitating condition? It is quite sad to say but,
The causes of this condition remains unknown by medical practitioners. In some quarters, it is considered to be as a result of the brain and nerves misinterpreting or overreacting to normal pain signals. This may be due to a chemical imbalance in the brain.

It is presumed that, people who usually suffer body pain, depression, insomnia, arthritis, muscle pain, drainage, fatigue, headaches and sensitivity to cold, are likely to be faced with this challenge.

Other symptoms of this condition include, sleeping for long periods of time without feeling rested, anxiety, inability to focus or pay attention.

Unfortunately, There is no test that tells you Whether you are having fibromyalgia, not even an X-ray MRI, or whatsoever! but your doctor might diagnose you with this condition, after running some checks and after observing your medical history.

Usually, after such diagnosis,  prescription drugs such as pain relievers, antidepressants, muscle relaxers are given to the patient. This of course does not get the patient cured, it only provides temporary relief.

Recently, The World Health Organization, suggested that complementary therapies such as acupuncture, specialized clinical massages, chiropractic manipulation as well as corrective exercises, could be very helpful in combating this condition, and this is where Bioviva holistic spa comes in.
